CCSA Technical Roundtable

About the Technical Roundtable

The CCSA Technical Roundtable is the essential lighting training for engineers in machine vision by lighting specialists, combining knowledge-packed sessions with hands-on practice.

Level up your understanding of lighting principles and how to effectively evaluate lighting solutions for machine vision.

Presentations

  • Lighting is one of the biggest reasons engineers don't get the good image set needed for machine vision systems to accurately perform their task. We've identified 5 key misconceptions that lead to systems designed with insufficient or improper lighting. This session will break down what these misconceptions are using real-world examples and how to rethink machine vision lighting so you can avoid these pitfalls yourself.

  • Machine vision lighting is about utilizing the physics of light to create contrast so that your program can easily detect its inspection target. Lighting Principles Part 1 will cover the 3 main ways we use geometry (lighting direction) to create contrast: brightfield/darkfield, shadowless, and collimation, and what lights produce these different effects.

  • In Lighting Principles Part 2, we will cover how the wavelength, polarization, and amplitude of the light will affect the image. We'll also look at various lighting options and tools used to create and control these effects.

  • After thousands of lighting evaluations, CCS has honed a process for taking each application's unique requirements and restrictions and testing for the most optimal lighting solution. In this session, we will share our playbook on what to do and what to look for to get a repeatable and robust image.

  • A chance to apply what you learned in training. Attendees will team up to solve applications prepared by the CCS team. We also encourage attendees to bring their own samples to test on site!

 FAQs

  • Yes, the event is free-of-charge!

  • Absolutely! We encourage you to bring any relevant samples with you. Our team of engineers will be on hand to discuss your specific application details, perform testing, and provide expert guidance on the spot.

  • While we tailor content for a range of skill levels, a basic understanding of machine vision systems will help you get the most out of the training. If you’re new to this area we recommend watching our Getting Started in Machine Vision webinar on YouTube.

  • All presentation slides and additional resources will be shared via a USB device handed out at the event.

  • Yes! CCSA can hold on-site Technical Roundtables for your engineering teams/customers upon request. We can present the exact same content as standard Technical Roundtables or add/swap presentations to tailor to your audience. If interested, please submit a request through our Request a Training form.
